Tim Robbins born as Timothy Francis Robbins on October 16th, 1958 in West Covina, California is an outstanding multi-faceted American personality. He is an amazing Hollywood actor, screenwriter, musician, director and producer. Tim Robbins won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in "Mystic River" {2003}; and was nominated for Writer/Director for "Dead Man Walking" {1995}. In all Tim Robbins won 27 awards and 16 nominations including Academy Awards.
Tim Robbins was born to actress Mary nee Bledsoe, and Gilbert Robbins, a publishing executive, musician, folk singer and nightclub owner. Tim Robbins has two sisters, Adele and Gabrielle, and brother, David. He was raised in a Catholic faith. Tim Robbins entered into theater at the age of twelve by joining the drama club at his Stuyvesant High School. He studied at SUNY Plattsburgh for two years. He later enrolled himself at the UCLA Film School at California. Soon after graduating from college in 1981, Tim Robbins gathered his actor-friends from his college and founded an experimental theater group in Los Angeles called the Actors' Gang' for which he produced, directed and acted in number of plays.
Tim Robbins began his acting career with a Theater for the New City and spent most of his teen years playing in their Street Theater plays and also acted in several television shows playing small characters.
Tim Robbins began his movie career in 1984 with small roles in movies like "Toy Soldiers", "The Sure Thing" and other movies until 1990s. The 1990s saw his career take off to zooming heights with movies like "Bob Roberts" {1992} which he has written, directed and acted in. In the same year, his performance in the "Player" {1992} earned him a BAFTA nomination followed by "The Shawshank Redemption" {1994}, and "Dead Man Walking" {1995} which got him an Oscar nomination for his Best Directorial efforts and powerful screenwriting abilities. Tim Robbins has also given critically acclaimed performances in movies like "Cradle Will Rock" {1999}, "The Secret Life of Words" {2005} and "Mystic River" {2003} for which he won an Oscar including many other awards. Tim Robbins has written, produced, and directed number of movies with powerful content.
The famous Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Tim Robbins is friends with Susan Sarandon, his co-star of "Bull Durham" {1988}. They together have two sons Jack Henry born 1989 and Miles Guthrie born 1992.
